The Prieuré

The Prieuré is the short name for "Le Prieuré des Basses Loges"
in "Ville d´Avon" near Fontainebleau (or just Fontainebleu-Avon). The entrance to the premises of the Prieuré
is on Rue Bezout, almost at the edge of Avon.
The premises of the Prieuré is currently owned by a
nursing home for elderly and ill people. We had been warned that the director of the
nursing home hates gurdjieff, and that we would not be welcome there. The
building is totally renovated and occupied by tenants who rent apartments there. The
gate to the building had a sign on it that said there where still
aparments available. I view the current state of the Prieuré with mixed
feelings. Although they did a great job on the renovation, it is strange that people who
probably don't have the faintest idea about the work occupied it.

We entered the premises through the parking lot of the
nursing home. A path led up to the nursing home (that looks so ugly that we
didn't even think of taking a picture of it) across the lawns that used to
belong to the Prieuré. The picture on the left was taken immediately after we
came up to the lawn. This is how the Prieuré is usually portrayed, but somehow I
think it's actually the back of the building.

This is the Prieuré as seen from the (closed) gate at the corner of Rue Bezout. The
building is L-shaped. The wall at the back separates the premises from the road (all of the
premises is enclosed by walls, so it was even a little hard to find).

We took this picture a bit further along the wall that can be seen on the previous
picture. Taking it involved some acrobatcs. Ingrid had to stand on my hands to
peek over the wall.

And this is the view from the little building called "The Paradou", where "the
Russians" used to live (according to Fritz Peters).
